Let's Pretend

Lately Hylani has been pretending. It all started with a game that his aunt and uncle play called 'restaurant'. They included him in it one day. He loved eating the pretend cake, ice cream, and 'cheesy noodles' that they made for him. Then they had a mock birthday for him. This is him and his uncle Ejay eating the birthday cake. He said it's 'yummy strawberry berfday cake'.

This is him unwrapping one of his presents. The kids provide him with several of his own toys, sing happy birthday to him, and cheer as he unwraps them. He absolutely adores it and often begs them to play this game with him over and over again.

I think his baby sister has brought out the big boy in him. This is him with his version of a baby, cuddling her and whispering 'shhh shhh' when she "cries". He will often walk around with various toys, usually baby dolls, and call them 'baby sister' and take care of them; hugging, kissing, and burping them. It's the most adorable thing ever.

I just can't believe how fast he's growing. He can pretend like any other child now, and he has an amazingly vivid imagination. Sometimes I feel sad because he's growing up too fast; I feel like I'm losing control of time. He's just becoming such a boy now, he's no longer my little baby.
